Battle your friends

Robot battle

Flip your opponent before they flip you

Dotbots turns the room into a robot battle arena.

Each player controls their own robot using the free Dotbots app. Drive, dodge, line up your attack and use the lifting arm to flip your opponent onto their back. Every successful flip scores a point.

Set a time limit, start the battle and see who can score the most flips before time runs out.

The rules are simple enough to understand immediately—but winning takes practice, timing and a good strategy.

How the game works

Robot battles are designed for two or more players, with each player controlling their own Dotbot.

Choose an open space, place the robots facing each other and start the timer. Players drive around the arena and try to position their robot’s lifting arm underneath an opponent.

When the moment is right, activate the arm and attempt the flip.

The player with the most successful flips at the end of the round wins.

You can play quick one-minute battles, longer matches or create your own tournament with multiple rounds.

What you need:

  • At least two Dotbots robots

  • One compatible iOS device for each player

  • A flat indoor playing area

  • A friend, sibling, parent or classmate ready to compete

Easy to start. Difficult to master.

The first battle can begin within minutes. But every match plays differently.

Players quickly discover that driving straight toward an opponent is not always the best strategy. They learn to dodge, approach from the side, wait for the right moment and recover after a missed attack.

Different opponents develop different playing styles. Some attack immediately. Others wait patiently. Some rely on speed, while others focus on careful positioning.

That is what keeps Dotbots interesting: the controls stay simple, but the strategies continue to develop.

Why it stays interesting

Dotbots is not a game with one fixed path or a final level to complete.

Every opponent creates a new challenge. Every room can become a different arena. Every battle gives players another chance to improve their skills and try a new strategy.

Children can create:

  • Quick one-versus-one battles

  • Best-of-five competitions

  • Family tournaments

  • Team battles

  • Obstacle-filled arenas

  • Custom rules and scoring systems

  • Practice challenges for speed, control and accuracy

A chair leg can become an obstacle. A cardboard box can become part of the arena. Tape on the floor can mark boundaries or special zones.

The game grows with the players because they are not only following rules—they can invent their own.

Learning through play

During a robot battle, children are focused on winning the match. At the same time, they are naturally practising valuable skills.

They experiment with movement, speed, timing and positioning. They see how small changes affect the outcome and adjust their approach after every attempt.

Without feeling like they are completing an exercise, children practice:

  • Strategic thinking

  • Hand-eye coordination

  • Spatial awareness

  • Cause-and-effect reasoning

  • Problem-solving

  • Fast decision-making

  • Patience and persistence

  • Learning from mistakes

  • Fair play and communication

A missed flip is not simply a failure. It becomes immediate feedback: Was the angle wrong? Was the robot moving too quickly? Did the opponent predict the attack?

Children test another idea and try again.

That is learning through play—curiosity, experimentation and improvement happening naturally inside the game.

More playing together, less passive screen time

Dotbots uses an app, but the action does not stay on the screen.

Children look up, move around the room, follow the robots and react to other players. The phone or tablet becomes a controller for something happening in the real world.

Instead of watching someone else play, children become active participants.

They talk, compete, laugh, negotiate rules and plan their next move together. Dotbots can turn screen time into shared, physical and social play.

Built for playing together

Many digital games place children alone in front of separate screens. Dotbots brings them into the same space.

Robot battles encourage children to play face-to-face with friends, siblings and parents. Players celebrate successful flips, react to unexpected moments and immediately ask for another round.

Because matches can be short, it is easy for new players to join, switch opponents or organise a small tournament.

It is a game children can enjoy together—not just next to each other.

Creativity beyond the battle

The basic goal is clear: flip the opposing robot.

Everything around that goal can be changed.

Children can design an arena, build obstacles, invent tournament rules, create team names or decide that certain areas of the floor give bonus points.

One day the living room can become a championship arena. The next day it can become an obstacle course or a precision-driving challenge.

Dotbots gives children a starting point, then leaves space for their own ideas.

Learning without forcing it

Children do not need to be told that they are practising problem-solving or learning about movement and mechanics.

They experience it while trying to win.

When a strategy does not work, they change it. When they improve, they see the result immediately. When another player finds a better approach, they observe, adapt and try again.

The motivation comes from the game itself—not from being asked to complete a lesson.

Dotbots also includes separate coding activities for children who want to explore programming. Robot battles and coding are different ways to use the same robot: battles provide active multiplayer competition, while the coding activities allow children to experiment and create at their own pace.

A gift that creates experiences

Dotbots is more than an object to unwrap.

It creates competitions between siblings, battles with friends, family tournaments and memorable moments that children can return to again and again.

It is especially suited to children who enjoy:

  • Robots and technology

  • Remote-controlled vehicles

  • Competitive games

  • Building challenges

  • Inventing rules

  • Playing with friends

  • Understanding how things work

Rather than offering one short-lived activity, Dotbots provides a platform for many different games, challenges and ideas.

Interesting after the first week

The excitement of many toys comes from discovering what they do. Once everything has been seen, there may be little reason to return.

Dotbots is different because another player is part of the experience.

Opponents improve. Strategies change. New arenas can be created. Rules can be adjusted. Tournaments can become more competitive.

The robot also offers other activities outside battles, including custom controls and several ways to explore coding. Children can begin with simple play and discover more advanced possibilities over time.

Dotbots is designed to provide an exciting first battle—and many reasons to come back for the next one.
